NEW PLYMOUTH, December 1.

Mr Massey, the leader of the Opposition, delivered a - political address at the Theatre Royal to-night. The building was, packed. The speaker was accorded hearty cheers, and his address was frequently applauded. Mr Massey first replied to the Premier's New Plymouth speech, then outlined the Opposition platform and commented on tho Premier 'going round the country at the ratepayers' expense trying to prevent better men than himself getting into Parliament. Referring to the need of a Public Service Board to prevent appointments by political influence, Mr Massey twitted the Premier on having used his power to make appointments.. -The greater part of the speech was oh the same lines as the previous speeches in the North, demonstrating that Seddonism was democracy without liberty. He advised the audience to vote- for Mr Okey. At the close several questions were answered, and a vote of thanks and confidence in the Opposition policy was declared to have been carried.
