A Commission of Inquiry

.Promised.

Received November 30, 12.56 a.m.

November 30.

SYDNEY,

In the Assembly, Mr Holm an raised the question- of tbe dissensions among the Railway Commissioners. The position, he said, was intolerable, and must end. He stated that the Commis-siorers agreed to pay 7s 3d per ton for coal which was competing with the collieries' supply at 4s 6d. Apparently some officers of the Department were deliberately misleading their superior officers. He urged that a searching enquiry should be made.

Mr Carruthers, in promising the appointment of a Commission of Inquiry, stated that ho had already informed the Commissioners that tho state of tilings could not continue.
