Saturday Night's No-license Meeting.

Sir, — I notice that in your column of "QpAclusion by Commpn Sense," appearing 'in your issue., of tlss .ev^pfaig,, au<i refer.ring to the "open-air meeting held on Sat- j urday night "Common Sense" attributes to. me tpfi> following statement: — "Mr ( Cohen concluded by reiterating the points of his speech, and asked the' people not *to~ Be 'led away by false sentiment, but to take a broader view o£ c the question than that ,sp constantly placed before them by interested persons, who did riot speak the truth, and were most unscrupulous in their ways."" I should regret very much to find myself the author of the latter part of this flotation. I did not use any such expressions. They are mere abuse. I deprecate abuse as much as I abhor it. TO THE EDITCfE. Sir, — On reading T "Common Sense's" "Conclusions" anent last Saturday's meeting, I could not help "noticing the way he misconstrued his of the "youth's" speech. "Common Sense" says that the youth referred to, stated that he was a Tnoderate, also that he had been drunk 23 times!. Now, -eir, "Common Sense" has put it wrongly. I was there too, and the young man said this (if you had a reporter there compare his notes to these words): — I am a moderate drinker; that is to say I have "never been drunk more than 23 "times." The inference of his remarks was palpable. What the young man said about Bishop Julius is already iri cold print, and has not been denied. The fangs of King Alcohol are being pulled oujt. one .by one, ,and-,when we have such living jnon.ume?its of testimony coming from the ranks of the moderates it means still another fang out.
