Tho following further business was 'transacted by the Education Board after we went to press yesterday:— l -. TAIHAPE.— Request of Committee in regard to lower Standards referred to In x B|>ector. BUILDING COMMITTEE.— Makotuku. -BJO granted for fencing; Rangiwatuß, •.£l2 lGs for porch; Queen's Park, ,£7(5 5s for repairs; Ashurst, for repairs; Waitotara, 33s Od for tank shed; Ncwbury, .88 "58 Gd for papering; Linton, £7 10s for draining; South Makirikiri, ,£lO for works; Mokoia, Burton's tender (.£264) accepted for residence; minor repairs to Man^awhero, Jockeytown, Kiwi tea, and Tiriraukawa, KOM3JKO. — The. question of replacing the Komako School by one at Upper 3?oliangina was referred to Mr Pirani to leport on.

OPAKU. — Education Depaitmont wrote Stating that house allowance would bo given for the Teacher at Opaku.

SCHOLARSHIPS.— ResoIved .that tho Board disapprove of the Gbvenuneul'a proposed alterations in the scholarship regulations in the direction of making the Ist of December, instead of 3 1st December, as the date of scholarship agq; and a proposal only to allow one scholarship to be held by one scholar. MOKOIA. — Department agreed to give grant for residence. 1 MANGATOKL— Addition eg another room in teacher's residence left to Building Committee. SIDE SCHOOL.— Resolved that the Chief Inspector report upon the application for a- 320 side school to College and Campbell Streat3 (Palmorston), aud confer, with the Committees.

MATAROA. — The Department to be ap])Ji«>d to for funds to enlarge the school and' build a residence. ' RANGIAWAHIA.— The teacher wrote asking for a transfer, owing to there being),no residence' at Eangiawahia, which had- compelled him to send his wife and family away to live. — The - Chairman stated that, the Department had been written to tv?b months ago and had not replied. — Resolved to make further application to the Department for a grant. - .WAITUNA. — It was resolved to grani the ' Committee's application to have the name of the school- changed to Dunolly. - GRANTS. — Resolved to re-apply lo tho Department for all building grants previously asked for. TRAINING COLLEGE.— Resolved to noirtinate Mr Pirani as a. representative on the Board of Advice of the Teachers' Training- College (Wellington). CHANGES IN NAMES.— It was r«solve'd to change the name of Upper Taomii : to Taonui, and West Waitapu to Waituna.

HOLIDAYS.— It was resolved- that the Christ&as holidays begin on 16th December and- end on 29th January.

TRANSFERS. — The following transfers of leases were agreed to: — Section B, lilock IV., Pohangina, from Savoll to Handley; section 148. Palmerston, to J. O. Batchelor^ who is to be asked if lie is willing to purchase. OHANGAL— The Chairman repented that Inspector Milne would not recommend a school at Ohangai until he had paid "another visit to the place, :>nd so the application for a grant had not been sent to the Department. FOXTON.— Tenders for the Foxfcon school were held over, and it- was decided that a deputation from Foxton, with Messrs Lethbridgo and Pirani, interview the Minister in reference to tho work.
