HURRICANE AT THE MARSHALL ISLANDS.
71 Lives Lost.
Press Association.— Telegraph.— Copyright. Received- August 25, '9.57 p.m. SYDNEY, Augußt 25. Detaila of the late hurricane at the Marshall Islands show that 71 lives were' lost. Jaluifc- was almost completely submerged by a tidal wave six feet high, which swept over the islands., leaving devastation in its track. The Jaluit Company's big jetty and all the floating plant was swept away. There was great, destruction of copra. The only houses left standing 1 were the Governor's and a portion of the mission station, where many natives took refuge. ,
