(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 24. The Council met at 2.30. - Replying to the Hon. Beehan as to whether inquiries would be made as to whose instigation the recent case of roll stuffing at Auckland was brought about, the Attorney-General said a Justice of the Peace had been fined for a breach of the Electoral Act, and further inquiry was being instituted into the matter. When the report was received the Government would consider what action was necessary. ' PROGRESS OF BILLS. The Motor Registration Bill was read a third time and passed. The Palmerston North High School Reserve Bill (T. Kelly) was read a second time. . . '. ' The Marriage Validation Bill was committed, progress reported, and the* Bill referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Wanganui Harbour' Bill (Carncross), Timaru Borough Drainage Sewerage and Loans Bill (Jenkinson), and the Eltham Borough Drainage and .Water Supply Empowering Bill (Carncross) were read a second time without discussion.
