The Bengal Chamber of Commerce adopted a resolution lamenting Lord Curzon's resignation, gratefully thanking him for his signal services to the country and applauding his ability and courage in defending constitutional principles. Lord Curzon has been- the recipient of numberless sympathetic telegrams. Press comments are heated in India. The Home Government ia fiercely assailed; some of the British-Indian newspapers describing the position as "militarism triumphant." Others expect a full debate of the subject in Parliament. A number of uative newspapers are jubiliant over Lord Curzon's retirement, hoping that thereby the partition of Bengal will be frustrated.
