YThe protocols are almost ready stating Japan's and Russia's views respectively on the four disputed points. Russia' bases her objection to the indemnity "upon— besides Professor Maar'ten's contention — the argument that Russia, as she does not acknowledge defeat, has "entered the Conference 1 owing to her love .of peace, and was willing to conclude jpeace on- an .honourable basis.
