Mr C. -E. .Sellringer, says the Daily News, has decided to stand for the Taranaki seat at the next general elections, ia the Independent Liberal interest. We hear that Miss Minifie, the wellknown Christchurch painter, has taken rooms at th© corner of the Avenue and Guyton Street. A Paris cable announces the death of Adolphe William Bouguereau," President of the Society of French Artists, aetat 79. It is always a pleasure to us to recordthe success of Wanganui boys abroad. The latest instance is Mr -Herbert Babbage, formerly well known as one_pf the staff of the Wanganui Technical- School, who is now in London. At the recent art examinations at South Kesington Mr Babbage came out at the top of the list, there being 70 below him. This news> will be received with pleasure by Mr Babbage's Wanganui friends, particularly by old students of the Technical School. Master Douglas Taylor, son of Mr Andrew Taylor, of Waverley, has proved the successful contestant in a prize essay competition upon John Enox in connection with St. Paul's Sunday School, Wanganui.
