WELLINGTON, August 12. The municipal baths' at Clyde Quay, built for th© 'Corporation* in 1901 at a cost of ,£5227, has suffered sever© damage from heavy northerly seas. Most of th© "outer fencing, composed of stout totara piles, and planks,' has been broken up and washed away, and tho floor of the baths covered with refuse or seriously scoured. It wag stated at the time th© structure was built that it would not stand tho battering it was likely to receive, and) that it ought to be protected by a wall, but ' this will cost ,£2OOO. Notice has been given to close the baths until it is decided what to do.
