WANGANUI HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the general Committee was held in Jackson's Rooms last evening, when" there were present — Mr ,A. A*. Gower, president (in the chair), Mrs Sewell, Messrs F. Walker, Haase, D. H. Williamson, Babbage, and Holloway (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs C. J. Wray and G. Smith.

FRUIT-CANNING EXPERT. — Mr Jaques wrote accepting the Society's" invitation to deliver a lecture on "The Fruit Industry" in Wanganuir-and asking that a date about middle of July be fixed. — It was resolv-sd to fix on Wednesday, July 19, if that date is suitable to • Mr Jaques. Arrangement of details was left in the hands of the president and secretary.

SHOW DATES.— It was resolved to hold the Spring Show on Wednesday and Thursday, November 29 and 30, or as near these dates as possible, and the Autumn - Show on or about 7th and Bth March.

-EXECUTIVE:— The President (Mr A. A. Gowcr), Mr I*. Walker, and the secretary were appointed an Executive Committee.

CATALOGUE COMMITTEE.— The following were appointed: — Mesdames HopeGibbons and Sewell, and Messrs Geo. Smith, P. Walker, D. Williamson, and the president and secretary.

CANVASSING COMMITTEE. — Mgsdames Hope-Gibbons, Sewell, Holloway, Haase, and the President. ■ -

CHEQUES.— Messrs Gowei; and Holloway were appointed to sign cheques- on behalf of the Society.

COTTAGE GARDEN COMPETITION". —It was reported that Mr H. F. Christie Lad kindly donated three guineas as a prize for the cottage garden competition. — It was resolved that a competition be held, conditions and details to be left in the hands of the Catalogue Committee. This concluded the business.
