Kunopatkin Reaches Kaiyuen.
Japs Cut Railway North of Him. Another Severe Defeat for the RussiansReceived March 17. 9.40 p.m. LONDON, March 17. The Times' St. Petersburg correspondent states that General Kuropatkin reached j Kaiyuan on Wednosday. ' Sassulitch's and Zurabieff's corps are acting as a rearguard, and Mistchensko's is protecting the right. It is not expected that the army will make a stand until further north. It is reported that .the Japanese cut the railway north of Cranghifu, which is north j of Kaiyucn. i It is stated that the Eussians sustained a severe reverse at Tieling, abandoning their remaining stores and artillery. tl is believed in St. Petersburg that a •large part of the retrcaters will proceed via Kirin to Vladivostoek, the rest going to Harbin to guard the railway.
