NARROW ESCAPE FROM DROWNING.
A young woman named Fitzsimmons had a narrow escape lrom drowning at Castleelift' yesterday. She is a resident of Mangaweka, and came to town on Wednesday. Yesterday she visited Castlecliff, and went for a walk along the sea beach. While walking in the water she was overtaken by a big wave, and in an effort to escape getting lier clothes wet, fell, and before she could recover herself another larger breaker came in and carried her off her feet. in> this serious predicament, and after being some time in the waber, T?he- was seen by a Mr Lound, who chanced to be on" the' beech. He rushed to her rescue and brought her, in an unconscious state, to shore, afterwards rem'ovinsr her to^ the ..hotel. There' Mr and Mrs/Brnwn rendered every assistance possible' by artificial respcration ami 1 hot water and blankets, to resuscitate the; unfortunate woman, and eventually they' we.re rewaTded f or thetf-troublei Dr Fen-t wick was also summoned, and "attended to; Mrs Fitzsimmons, who was this morning 1 , removed to the Hospital, having received a severe shock to the system. " ;
