At ihe adjourned annual meeting bi the Buller Licensing Committee a new license was granted to Charles Aldington for an hotel at Millerton. The Magistrate was not present. Mr Cottrell, counsel for the objectors, raised the .question as to the' effect of' the last local- option poll, which has been taken since the adjournment, thet poll being in favour of continuance, and quoted the pending case Westlake v. Wai-, pawa Licensing Committee. The commit--tee overruled the objection, and .granted the license, which, has to be signed by the Magistrate- before it can -issue.
