ST. JOHN'S INFANT SCHOOL
The annual distribution of prizes took place this morning. The. Revs. Maclean and Cocker gave short* addresses, the former devoting his" remarks' to the children, whilst Mr Cocker spoke to the parents more particularly, urging upon them the necessity of seeing that their children attended school regularly. After the children's gifts had been handed round the Rev. 'Mr Maclean presented Miss 'Annie McNab (on behalf of the teaching staff and children) with two handsomely-bound volumes — the one of Browning's and the other of Tennyson's works. Mr Maclean mentioned that this presentation was intended as an indication of the esteem, and regard in which Miss McNab was held by teachers and scholars, and he had no doubt she would value the gifts. Miss McNab briefly thanked the teachers', and children, and expressed regret at leaving the St. John's School.
