As the steamer had been travelling at the rate of twelve! knots an hour the unfortunate man was some distance astern,, but although only an indifferent swimmer he succeeded in remaining afloat until his rescuers arrived. .When picked up, he was insensible, but by means ot restoratives he was brought round, and shortly afterwards he resumed duty.-
