Three Children. Buifn.Qd to . Death. {Per United,. Press Association.) NAPIER November. 22. A firo occurred "h^j(r Te Aute "about midnight hut' nightj ■"•wliicli was unfor-tunately-attended with fatal results, three children being burned to death. The house, a small one, which was owned- -and ° occupied by a half-caste named Eupeno Erueti Reubsn Edwards, who at the time of the occurrence was away from home shearing at Kereru, -was burned^ to the ground. Edwards' 'wife (a Maori woman) and another native woman, who was" sleeping in the house at the time, just succeeded in escaping with the 'baby. The. three older children, however — a girl 12 years of age, another girl of four ye*rs,- and a boy of 'five years — were "-Burned to death, the remains being- charred beyond recognition. '•-' M;uch'"Bympathy isifelt for the parents, both amongßt natives and Europeans, Edwards "being well known throughout the district.
