ROWING.

Notes by " SllUb."

The semi-final resulted, as anticipated, in a win for Tilley, although it was a very hard thing to say for the first half of the journey who would ultimately catch the judge's eye. Tilley got somewhat the best of the start, and both crews were rowing hard, Till (a comparatively new man) making splendid efforts to catch his more experienced rival, and at Ingestre Street it looked as if his efforts would be rewarded, but his bow unfortunately caught an ugly crab opposite Bolton Row, the oar getting right behind him. This rractically lost whatever chance they had of winning. Bow, recovering his oar quickly, Till again made one, final effort to reduce his opponent's lead, but lack of condition told its tale, his bow having to ease up within 150 yards of the winning post. This left Tilley to row home a somewhat easy winner.

To-night, at 5.45, Orford and Tilley meet in the final, when I expect to see the former win.
