CONCERT AT CASTLECLIFF.

Though the weather was anything but favourable last evening for a moonlight excursion, the loyalty and patriotism of the good folk of Wanganui *and Castlecliff was not to be affected by such a trifle, and consequently a large number of people left by the train for CastlecliSjv to the strains of music provided by the Garrison and Sash and Door Factory Bands. The passengers by train were met at tho Heads station by Messrs Neill and Gatenby and other members of tho committee, and were conducted to the. hall, where a thoroughly enjoyable'concert was held. The proceedings were,of a most enthusiastic and patriotic character, tho various items, all of which were, of a martial strain, being heartily applauded, and the choruses taken up* with characteristic spirit. The items rendered included a piano solo by Madame Naylor, songs by Miss Mills, and Messrs C. Naylor, Robin, G. Wallace, G. Brown, , H. Mowtell, A. J. Cribb, T. Sparks, F. Ilouse, and recitations by Messrs Waters and H. V. Duigan. The chair was occupied oy Mr W. Pinches, and the aceoni'paniments were played by Madame Naylor, Miss Finlay, and Mr F. Sparks. The pioceedings closed with three cheers for Her Majesty i>nd three groans for Kruger.
