Mr E. Brightwell, of Westmere, this morning brought in some 20 to 30 cates of fruit, to be sold by Messrs Williams and Harper ou account of the fund. Should the fruit not realise £5 Mr Brightwell will mako up the difference. Mr R. Carver, of Ohingaiti, who holds the New Zealand War Medal, writes"The account given in the PreßS of the Patriotic Meeting held in Wanganui should fire the heart of all true Britishers that read it." He asks that his son bo enrolled as one of the 25, and forwaids the names of three others who havo volunteered at Ohingaiti, all good horsemen, fair shots, and accustomed to roughing it. Mr Carver adds that one ia aged 25, 6ft 2iu in height, strong as a lion, and plucky, and will find his own horse. Tho Mayor wired the- Premier yesterday aa follows. — "Our men, horses, and money will bo ready by Saturday, tho 27th inst. When can Conmndant arrange for passing o\ir men.
