THE OLD MEN'S HOME.
We were informed to-day that one of tho inmates ot the Old Men's Home, an old man named Hopkuißon, about 90 years of ago, has shaken the dust off his feet from that institution, being far from satisfied with bio lot thero, mid not being desiious of being confined to his bed in tho Home. He complains of little petty annoyances and constant irritation that many of the inmates are subject to, and statea that Mr Gatenby, on his recent visit to tho Home, did not interview all the inmates. Despite the statements niado by som» of the members of the Board, there surely must be a screw loose somowhoro when an old man, 90 years of ago, who has been one of the most industrious and deserving inmates in tho Home, declines to end his days there. We also understand that tho number of inmates in the Home is less than has been tho case for several years past. What is the reason of this? Is it bccauso there arc fewer old people in Wanganui and district whose circumstances should compel them to seek a refuge there? We think not. What then is the reason ? Echo answers, What !
