DEPARTURE OF THE N.S. WALES CONTINGENT.
SYDNEY, January 17. The departure of the troops was a magnificent nnd inspiring soene. Tho weather wils glorious It ih estimated that there v, ere 300,(100 Spectators. Four thousand troops paraded, formed a procession over a mile long, and. conducted their comrades to tho point of embarkation. Although all the troops are aboard, the Moravian ia tho only one that sailed, llio Southern CroBS, and the Maori King, which haa tho Queensland contingent who took part in (he prdoessiou, will probably sail to-night* and the Surrey to-morrow. The stieots woro bright with bunting. A great concourse lined tho slopes of the Domain, overlooking Wooloomooloo Bay, v\hero tho embarkation took placo. The enthusiasm w.n even greater than >n Ihc first occasion. Altogether 738 'ocal troops and nurßea embarked, and 700 hoiscs weio shipped. Ibo Maori King sailed to-aight.
