THE PROPOSED AUSTRALASIAN CONTINGENTS.

Both Queensland and Victoria have informed Mr Lyno (Premier of New South Wales) that, they are willing to co-opera-ato in a united contingent if necessary. MELBOURNE, December 15. Colonel Downes, the local Commandant, said that while plenty of men wore available, ho would regret the Imperial Government seeking more from the colonies, tl would be a confession of weakness. The first contingent was justified as a demonstration of patriotism and unity. BRISBANE, Deoombor 15. A cablo has been, received that Lieut-enant-Colonel Byron, of the Queensland Permanent Force, was wounded at Magerefontein.
