Mr R. Tucker will conduct the service at the Castleeliff Public Hall at f. A very hearty invitation is given to all. Mr Gordon Furlong will deliver an addiess at the Gospel Hall, Bell Street, at - 7. At Christ Church in the evening the Rev T. B. Maclean will give an address on "The War in the Transvaal."

Cocker will preach a ser- v nion to the young people in the morning-, and will speak upon "Eahab and Her Scarlet Cord" in the evening. The Rev C. H. Poole will preach at Aramoho morning and evening, and at Millburn in tho afternoon, '

The Rev T. W. Vealie, of Feilding, will conduct- the services at Trinity - Church, both morning and evening,, thes Rev G. Bond having gone to Palmerston. Mr Vealio will lecture at Maxwelltown on Monday evening, Aramoho on Tuesday, and in the Trinity Schoolroom on Wednesday evening on "America," in each case at 7.30,

Mr James Aitken will conduot service at the Westmere Church at 7 p.m. The* usual afternoon service will not be held.

Mr Turner (Evangelist) conducts the *, .service at the Christians' Meeting House, 1 Mathieson Street, in the evening. His subject will be from Romans ix., 9-13. An open meeting will be held in. the • T.Y.M.I. rooms at 2.30, when Mi J. H. . ", Harper will read a paper on "Bi,ble Read- ' ing in Schools." A cordial, inv^^tiwV is. given to all. ' -x " Mr G. A. Wantzlick will speak on thet chief topic of the day, viz., "The Eights of the People, or Civil Government and Religion," at the Christian Meeting House.

Next Sunday and Monday are being observed as the days of universal prayer - in connection, with the Sunday School Union.

Tho New Zealand Baptist Union holds its annual conference in Wanganui next month. The Eev H. Peters asks us to state that the dates fixed upon are the 13th to 19th of November inclusive. The" -' business sessions of the Union will beheld daily, and public meetings each . evening. The moßfc striking features of - the programme are a grand missionary luncheon on November 15th, at 1 o'clock, a public missionary meeting the same evening, and a public soiree on the 16th, all in St. Paul's Hall.

Tho social held in the Wesleyan Church at Aramoho in aid of the funds ' for tho repairs and improvements to 1 tho building that have recently been effected, was largely attended on Thursday evening, and proved most enjoyable. A varied and interesting programme was rendered, the items including songs by Misses Hicks, James and Gilby, and Messrs L. Bassett, J. Alcorn, Magnuson and Feasey; pianoforte solo, Miss Bassett; two instrumental duets by the Misses Owen ; two quartettes by Messrs - L. Bassett, M. Spurdle, A. Hicks, and J. Alcom; recitation, Master G. Bond;' and a number of selections were given, on the grapohphone .kindly lent']>y Mr D. Davies, anq manipulated by the Rev C. H. Poole. Tasty refreshments were also provided during the evening. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to all who had assisted, on the motion of Mr G. •Spurdle'. The church building, which was in very bad repair, now- presents quite an attractive appearance, and the Rev C. H. Poole desires to return his sincere thanks to those kind friends who assisted at the 1 "working- bee's" and in otyer ways showed' tneir 'Wacticitt sympathy. • ' t» - '■>'-'
