WAITOTARA COUNTY COUNOIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held this (Monday) morning, when there present— Cra W. Ritchie (chair), G. Mullins, J. Dompsey, A., Tawse, 8. Handley, and G. Mitohell. , ,-V- ' Okehu — Mr W. D. Anderson wajted on the Council with respect to the fence on the boundury line of his properly and that of Mr Humphrey. They asked that the Council pay, half the cost of erecting a sheep-proof-fenc3 along the edge of theformation on top of the embankment from Okehu Bridge to the top of the hill. The' Counoil decided that it conldnot entertain the proposal. -FcnzE— Tile Railway 'Department ■wrote, through the District-Engineer, to the effect that the Department was not responsible for the growth of f urze^t the railway crossing at Brunswiok, andnarne'd the parties. SnooT— Permission was granted Messrs Mitchell and Co. to erect a wooden shoot, ■ for loading frozen mutton, on the River Bank, below the Bridge. A Complaint — A lengthy, letter' was read from Mr J. Provost complaining of the action of the ranger in impounding a cow, which the writer alleged was not trespassing on the rayd, but' was being driven to a paddock. The letter was~ ordered to he on the table. Foreman's Repout— The report was read^and adopted. Reference was madeto the completion, of the culvert on the River Bank road, which would be thrown open for traffic as sobn as the fencing was erected. It was recommended that the Aramoho Boating Club should bo requested to fence along the top of the bank' to the full length of the shed, so'as to prevent accidents. Slow progeess is being made with the JJaj. Iwi Bridgo, and the Foreman recorntnended that the contractors be notified to proceed with, the work at such a rate as will ensure jfcs completion Hvithin tha c'ontraot time. — 9?he clerk was instructed to write to the § Aramoho Club. Rate— lt was decided to give'notiee of the intention of the Council to strike's rate of 1 1-lGcl in the pound, as against lid for last year. „ v f

Tbcsfassof Stock — A deputatian waited on the Council, and complained of the continual trespass o£ stock onthe,roadson Hair's estate. The chairman informed the deputation that the Ranger intended to take steps against offenders under the' Publio Works Act, ' ,' ' River Bank — Mr J, Walker,*, junior,, waited on the Council re tile ststtp of the road 'between his property and M* jKt#herbert's, and offered, on behalf of iha owners faoing the River Bank Road, 'to' contribute half the cost of levelling the land between the road and the edge of the River Bank. $hfl matter was referred'to' the Foreman. .
