SINKING OF A BARQUE.

Collision Between the s.s. Wakatipu and the Laira. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, April 2. The s.s. Wakatipu refused to auswer her helm coming alongside the Victoria wharf, and collided with the barque'Laira. The latter had some planks stove in, sinking in six minutes. The sunken vessel is owned by Captain Paterson and commanded by Captain Haigh. She had 1100 bale 3of wool on board and was to have left for London, via Wellington in a couple of days. . TheiWakatipu sustained some damage.
