THE GOVERNOR AT MASTERTON.
(Per United Piess Association.) lUsterton, April 1. The Governor met with an enthusiastic reception at Masterton, ai.d was banquetted in the evening. Responding to a toast Hjs Excellency said |t was not going beyond the privileges a Governor possessed, or the infringing of any parliamentary representation, when the Governor took upon himself to visit the various parts of the colony, anil to suggest improvements he deemed necessary m the interests of the districts. He had no fear of th 3 patriotism of the colonists, and was suro they would not forget what Great Britain had done for them. The United Kingdom spent an enormous sum for this colony's protection, and he had no doubt that the clouds in the East were the more difficult to disperse owing to the situation of the colonies, His Excellency is touring tho Wairarapa district.
