We regret to hear of tho death of another old settler of Wanganui, m the person of Mr Timothy Coalclej, which occuired about 7 o'clock this morning. Deceased, who was 70 years of age, had only been ailing for about a week from the prevailing epidemic — influenzi. He was a native of County Kerry, Ii eland, took ■'the Queen's shilling "in 1849, and served m the Gjth Regiment at Chatham, England, from that date to 1852. In the latter year he came out to the colony, and saw some servico during the troublous times with the Maoris, more especially as A.D.C. to the officers in chaige heie. He was afterwards employed m the police 'orce, with which he was connected for 25 years, and later on acted as waider at the Wanganui Gaol, being placed in chargo of the haul-labour gang employed in road-making in the borough. Latterly he had been emp'ojed by the vaiioti3 public bodies as dog tax collector and ranger. Deceased leaves three daughters and a son, all giown up. The funeial takes place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday from deceased's late residence, Wilson Street.
