ADVANCE WANGANUI.
TO THD EDITOH.
Srti, — Many towns in New Zealand, of much less pretensions than Wanganm have their "Turkish Baths," I need hardly point out to ' our townspeople the importance of such a boon to Wanganui, both from a commercial and healthful point of view. At present people from all parts of the colony hove to travel to the larger centres to avail themselves of this health renewing remedy. But why should people in and around Wanganui be compelled to do this when we should possess one of our own, and thus add another important addition to our attractions and advancement, which would not only be the means of keeping those in our district frcm seeking these much-needed baths at a distance, but would induce large numbers to visit our town for tins' purpose. Our thoughtful Mayor and Councillors have provided excellent . .baths for the ' public which are only available during the summer months, and this is another important Teas an why I here suggest to our worthy Councillors the importance of keeping these baths open all the year - round. This could easily be done by erecting the •'Turkish Baths" on the same enclosure, and by conveying a steam pipe to the publio baths an agreeable temperature would be maintained during winter months. These two institutions assisting each other in this and other ways -■ could be economically and profitably carried on under the same management. I take the liberty of -throwing out. the hint to our Borough representatives, iv the full belief that the importance of oar town warrants the proposed addition to_~ our publio institutions, and the keeping open of the present baths all the year through will m warmly appreciated by the community.— l am, etc., -" Health.
