Exceptionally Good Prices for Town
Properties.
Messrs Liffiton and Nixon held an important sale of freehold property m the town of Wanganui at their Rutland Chambers this afternoon. There was a largo attendance, and it is significant as to the progress of the town that bidding for the different lots offered was particularly brisk and that", exceptionally good piices nee obtained. The following prices weie rea'ised :—: — Section No. 30, r.eve, coiner of St. Hill and Ridgway-strcets, Mr A. Burnett, £1340. Pait section No. 49, corner of St Hill and Rklgway Streeti, al picspntin tho occupation of Mr Coleman, Mr E. Garner, £880. Part section 49, Ridgway-street, occupied by Mr H. Potto, £13G0. Part of sections 410, 411 and 412, ha\ing a frontage to Ligestre Street, 82J foetid chains —by a depth of 3 chains, Mr Biookfield, £400. Other half of sections 410, 411 and 412, having a froniage to lngcstre-street of 1^ chains and 3 chains to Canipbell-stiect, Mr A. A. Shevnff, £420. Two }- acre section i, Nos. 390 and 391, corner Ingestro and Wicksteed-streets, with the large and commodious dwelling thereon, Mr E. A. Campbell, £780. Sections 29 ana 30, Durietown, with convenient residence thereon, Mr E. Tingey, i £220.
Owing to the wires being down no results are to hand up to the hour of going to press concerning the Hawke'sßay J.C. Meeting which commenced to-day. Afternoon tea will be provided for the public by the Aramoho Boating Club at a nominal cost at the regatta to-morrow. A second prize of £2 23 will be given for the ladies' race. The Wairere will follow each race at the Regatta to morrow, fares 2s for the afternoon, after 3 o'clock Is. The steamer will leave Hatrick's wharf at 1 p.m. pioking up passengers along the river bank. The Aramoho Boating Club a.ra at a disadvantage in not having received their two racing boats from Mr Norton, of Wellington, and will have, consequently, to make the best use of their present plant. The annual congregational and children's picnio in connection with St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church will be held to-morrow at Fordell, on the grounds of Mr H. Sarjeant, which have been kindly lent for the occasion. A special train will leave the town station at 9.15 to-morrow morning.
