Sixteen miners were rescued af ter being entomhed for a day. Three others were drowned. Splendid heroism was displayed in the work of rescue. WAsniNOToN,_March 13. The American Government has decided to assess countervailing duties on sugar imported from France. Berlin, March 13. The Cologne Gazette, in the course of an article on the future of Gorman trade, expresses the hope that in cqjnmercial treaties Great Britain will not impose differential duties on Gorman goods exported to British colonies through English mercantile houses.
