WANGANUI REGATTA.

< — Notes on the Rowing Events.

The near approach of the annual fixture held under the auspices of the Wanganui Amp.teur Regatta Association has been the means of infusing some additional life into the different sheds, and although the entries in some cases have fallen short of expectations, others again give promise of some good contests. The Maiden Fours, for instance, with its six entries should furnish an interesting contest, and so also in the Junior Clinkers. It is a pity that the Union B.C. did not enter a crew for the Senior Outrig, but probably sickness in the shed had something to do with that,-and there should be a wiling set-to between Wanganui and Aramoho. It is noticeable, too, that neither the Stars nor tho Wellington Club have entered for this event, nor have they representatives in the Maiden or Senior Pa'.-s or Senior Clinkers, and only Wellington will compete in the Junior Outiig. Tho W.Tt.C. and College Match will no doubt, as in yeais past, have its particular interest for the supporters of " tho hoys ' ana the Club most of them support in after years. What is known as the old clmmpionsh p course has been decided on (that is rowing down river from Dr Grace's), and the winning post will be between Lowther and Barrack Streets. The first race is timed to start at 1,30 p.m shaip, and as Thursday (St Patrick's Day) will be a holiday, there should be a large n_mber of spectators, who will be enabled to witness th 6 finishes in both the European and native events.
