INTERRUPTION OF TELEGRAPH SERVICE.

Melbourne, March 11,

Great inconvenience has been occasioned during the last few weeks owing to the breakdown of the overland telegraph wires. The South Australian Government, realising its responsibility, has resolved on vigorous action to improve the Bervico, and Mr Cockburn, Ministerial head of the Post and Telegraph Department, has intimated that the South Australian Government has decided to duplicate the wire along the entire route, bo that if one wire breaks down another will be available. At dangerous crossings whoro floods and storms are likely to interrupt communication the lino will be duplicated. In addition the linos will be worked on the duplex principle,
