Report of Mr Charles Carr's stock sales :

Apiti sale, Monday, 28th February : A large muster of both cattle and sheep were penned, filling the new yards and also the yards kindly lent by Mr G. E. Prince. The cattle were of good class, bat absolutely unsaleable. A few dairy stock sold fairly well ; good woolled sheep sold well, but old ewes were negleoted. Birmingham sale, Wednesday, 2nd inßt : Nearly twice as much stock came forward as was advertised. Bidding for all classes of stock was dull, and only a few pens were quitted uuder the hammer. Considerable business was done after the sale j old ewes and inferior sheep were not in demand. There was no change in the price of cattle. Feilding sale, Friday, 4th instant : This was the largest sale yet held in Feilding, there being nearly 250 head of cattle, 15,000 sheep, 40 rams, and 50 pigs. The attendance was very large, and buyerd plentiful for good sheep. Old ewes and inferior sheep were again neglected! Wethers and lambs sold well; two pens of store Liucom weEhers bred by D. Taylor, Esq., 1J guineas to 1$ guineas. Prices at Birmingham : Fat cows, £3 8s ; 2J-year steers, 355 ; wethors, 6s 4d to 7s ; lambs, 2s Id, 2s 6c!, 2s Ud, 3s, 3s 3d, 3s sd, 4s 9d ; cnll ewes, 2s ; ewes aud wethers, 2-tooth, 6s; 2-tooth ewes, 6s.
