WANGANUI AMATEUR SWIMMING . CLUB.

The Championship Meeting.

The championship meeting of the Waiiganui Amateur Swimming Club, to be heia at the Corporation Baths to-morrow afternoon, promises to be the most successful gathering of the kind yet held here. In addition to the local cracks, a number of prominent swimmers from various parts o£ the colony will take part in the events, inoluding A. B. Truscott (Christchurch), the present 100 yds champion of New Zealand ; J. M. Hamilton (Napier), the champion plunger ; Rich and Gower, the Lyttelton representatives ; Crabbe, the Wellington champion ; and St Gorton, the ex-Collegiate School champion. Chief interest attaches to the Quarter-mile and Plunge Championships of New Zealand, and the contests should prove exciting. At Napier on Monday Mr Hamilton put up splendid time in a trial in the baths, doing the quarter-mile in 6min 15Jsec, which is under the New Zealand record. In the principal events Wanganui will be represented by St Gorton, W. J. Mahoney, Murphy, Ernie Larking, R. McGregor and others, who may be expected to give a good account of themselves. The first event is timed to start at 2.30 p.m.
