Patea Association v. Wanganui Association.

In consequence of a telegram having miscarried yesterday, w« were unable to give the results of the above match in last ovening's issue. Continuing the game for Wanganui, H. B. and K. H, Cave made serviceable stands, aud the respectable total of 155 was reached before the last wicket fell. Howard secured fiye wickets for 23 runs*, and bowled a great proportion of maidens. Kemp and Jimmerson also did well. Patea started well and put on 72 for the first wicket, and passed Wanganii's score l-sfore the third wick«t fell Izard ftnd Emmerson were chiefly respon siblo for the score, the former's 93 being the result of hard hitting, although marred by several chances. The wicket was matting, rather bumpy, and the grass in the outfield was long, making it quite impossible to get the value for drives or cuts. A match was played on Victoria Pai'k yesterday afternoon between the newlyformed Excelsior Club and the Wanganui Second eleven. The game ended in an easy win for the latter by an innings and 77 runs. Tho scores were : Excelsior 33 (F. Ansley 19) and 23 (Christie 12) ; Wanganui 133 (B. Willis 27, W. Willis 20, McLean 17, Delves 16, Hogg 14, and Bell not out 18. For the Wanganuis Delves secured 6 wickets for 15 runs and Hogg 3 for 18. An&ley (5 for 34) bowled with the most success for the Wanganui.
