At a general meeting of the committee of the Wellington Agricultural and Pastoral Association held yesterday, a letter was read from the Manawatu Association asking the committee to nominate delegates to attend a meeting to consider tbe advisability of fixing dates for all Worth Island Shows.

The Chairman stated that the matter was gone into at a aonferenoe held at Christ* ohurch five years ago and found impracticable.

Ultimately the matter was left in the hands of the Seoretary and Prosidont to deal with.

Tho Chairman reported that he had seen the Beorotary for the Department of Agriculture, who assured him that if anyone wished to dip before the time speoified in the Act tbora would be no objeotion raised provided tho inspectors were first notified.

Tho Secretary read roplies from other societies in connection with the matter to tho circular sent by tbo oommittoo asking for their opinion as to whether the lime for dipping sbould'bs extended. All tho replies were favourable with the exoeption of the Manawatu Association.

The regulation disallowing marks or initials of ownership on harness or covers of horses was struck out.

With regard to tbe proposition of tbe Canterbury Association that a special tax be imposed on stallions, a committee consisting of the President and Messrs Siddiford, Bidwill, Gillies, Crawford, and Mungavin, with power to add, was set up to consider the matter.

A reception oommittoo was appointed to meet ths judges on their arrival in Wellington, Mr Matthews remarking that it very muoh depended on the treatment the judges received as to whether they would ever act again.

The entries from exhibitors competing for the points prizes as compared with last year show an increasn of 225 in the various sections for which tbe four £60 prizes are given.

Tbe committee decided to increase the first prizes in the Dog classes to £1, and make ample provision for the shelter of dogs. A large number of special prizes are offered for this section,

The poultry olasses are also to be increased in number. The show grounds have been enlarged in order to meet tbe requirements for exhibits, the applications for space being greater than ever experienced in the history of tbe Association.

Fourteen uew member* wore eleoted.

The following resolution was passed :— 'That the attention of the Stock Department be called to the serious increase of disease in sheep known as adhesion of the lungs, and to the great mortality in lambs when »ix weekß old ; also that attention be drawn to th« advimbleneis of not publishing the names of those applying to the Department for veterinary advice. 1 The teachers of the principal public sobools held a meeting and promised 16 entries for the tug of w*r for aohool team* on Show day.
