Notes on the Game.

Me.'^rs Mcßeath and Henderson acted as umpires during the forenoon and Mr J. Watt acted in Mr Henderson's stead in the afternoon.

The wicket played well and had eridently been very oarefully prepared by Mr Smith.

The feilding, taken altogether, was only fair, sovoral mistakes being made on both sides

The Selection Committee's choice oamo in for severe criticism by all and sundry on the field. In the first plaoa it was the general opinion that tha Committee was injudiciously constituted. Emmenon is admittedly a first-class player, but he hai proved beyond doubt, his inability to select the last eleven. It is an open sooret for instance, that he discarded Banks, a player who has a first-class record and who upheld it on Saturday most creditably. Those who elected EmmeMon, too, must have known that he know little of the players and was not likely to see them at practice. What an utter faroe, therefore, was it in selecting fifteon "to go into practice." As a matter of faot, what did happen ? Only ono of the three saw anything of the men at practice, ?.nd yot they profeu to be able to select the best eleven. If the Solection Committee coulrl not see tho men at prac tice they should not have'undor&ikon to thoose tho repo. How on earth A. N. Oave J, l'oat, and I. M. Ruseoll, came tp be ororlooted, was a matter o^ wonder.
