The V.R.C. Autumn Meeting.
THIRD PAY.
(By Kleotrio Telograph— Copyiighfc.) (Per United Press Association.) Melboubnh, March 7, The failuro of Wallace to win the Champion Stakes outright was a sad blow to the general public. The morning papers still uphold tho colt's super excellence. The Age asserts that it is quite reasonable to assume that Wallace's unreasonable trestmbnt in the St. Leger Stakes accounted for his failure to win the Australian Oup, and still more probable that tho double gruolling he was subjected to was responsible for his having to be content with divided championship honors. Despite these favourable notices the Champion Stakes running proved to demonstrate that Wallace was not an honest colt, as he had Quiver in serious trouble a quarter of a mile from home.
