Annual Ball.
The annual ball lot* (Friday) evening in tho Drill Hall, of the Wanganui Collegiate School Old Boys' Association was a most I prenounced meoesa, fully ono hundred couples gracing the floor with their pretence, includi-.g a large number of " old boys " from all paifca of the district. The committee left no stone unturned to teak* tho gathering enjoyable, and wero amply rewarded by a fine evening and a large attendance. They had nicely doeorated the Drill Hall with greenery, nnd bunting, and tho walls were adorned with mirrors and pictures of "school" groups, while the stage vtai set nparfc for chaperons and nondancers. The programme consisted 26 dances end extras, the music for whioh was supplied by Mcssr* Armstrong (violin), Bichardson (cornet), and Messiter (piano), the time nnd tune being all that could be desired. The catering wai in the hands of Mr Kraus, who fairly excelled himself on this occasion, and the way in which the tanty viands were discussed certainly epa'ks well for the general excellence of the msnu pro Tided. The floor had had the specisl attention ef the committee, and was in capital order. Tha costumes cf tho ladies were chßrming, the many colours blending harmoniously duriug the terpiichorean Movements. Mrs Empson, the lady hostess, was unavoidably absent through indisposition, ftndtionßiderable regret was expressed thereat. Mr A W. Ward desrfves special praise for his able and untiring efforts in carrying out the multifarious duties of secretary, and the general success of tha " Old Boys " Ball cf 1*95 it bo small measure dug to hie exertions.
