Mr Guisfc, of New South Wales, said the ] Victorian crew had been formed long before the New South Wales orew had left Sydney, and if the Bowing Association had wanted to tak* the axceptiotl it should have been done before the Victorian crew left Melbourne. In refusing to obey the Association he 'was guided by the rule that men should be recognised as amateurs when accepted as such by thair own colony. Ha considered ha would have acted in an unsportsmanlike manmerif he had withdrawn. No doubt ha would be censured by the Association, but in what he had don* he was supported by the whole of the crew.
