Ammunition to be Got Prom Melbourne.

Wellington, February 14. Major Sommerville had an interview with the Defence Minister to-day in connection with the scarcity of Martini ammunition, and said injury was likely to ensue to the New Zaaland Rifle Association owing to Ho members beiog unable to get ammunition with which to practice. He also pointed out that unless active Btops were at onoe taken to secure a supply from the sister colonies there would be no ammunition for the annual Bhooting competition, which opens in Chrißtchurch on March Ist. Mv Seddon promised to at once cable to Melbourne for a sufficient supply and this will be landed at Lyttelton in good time for the meeting. Provision is also to bo made to allow fiom stock in hand clubs, etc,, which intend competing at the meeting, a few hundred rounds for the purposes of practice. -... t_ Major Sommervillo left for Christchurch this afternoon.
