Wilson, Secretary of the Seamen's Union, for statements mode by the latter reflecting on the Company's treatment of its servants. The Daily Chronicle states that forty thousand Midland miners are declining an offer of the masters to resume work on the old terms. The Government enforced the closure on Mr Chaplin's motion condemning the closing of Indian mints. Thirty thousand Welsh miners have resumed work at an advance of a half per cent. The House of Lords has adjourned until the 22nd inst. Washington, August 9. Public opinion commends the action of the President in promptly dealing with the silver question and postponing the tariff revision. Paeis, August 9. The Marquis de Mores charges M. Olemenceau ot acting as agent for England on the Egyptian question. He asserts that he saw the Russian Ambassador, and they arranged to thwart the manoeuvres of M. Olemenceau and the English. He further alleges that on his informing the Parif authorities the latter seized a number of bombs in Calais which had been supplied by an English agent for use against the troops in Paris.
