July 26. A large deputation last uight waited on tho Premier, headed by Sir Georgo Grey, to urge the claims on the colony of Mrs J. 0. Brown for ho? !ato husband* long services to the public, and of the late Mr Farnnll, of Auckland, as immigration agent years ago. A compassionate allowance was sought, but the deputation accepted the advice of the Premier to approach the House by petition. A deputation, consisting of Messrs H. H. Keoves, Harkneas, and 0. H. Mills, waited on the Premier last night, and asked him if the Government would bring in a bill this session to empower the trustees of the Taranaki Befugee Belief Fund to use the balance of the funds in their hands for the purpose of purchasing a recreation ground in Nelson. The Premier said he was m sympathy with the wishes of the deputation, but he suggested that Mr Harknoss Should introduce the measure himself, and he would like to see an expression of opinion from the public of Nelson through a public meeting before he could say whether the measure would have the assistance of the Government,
