ODDFELLOWS' BALL.

The plain and fancy dress ball held last evening under the auspices of the Loyal Wanganui Lodgo, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was in every way the success that careful management and a due knowledge of everything necessary to a function of this kind merited. The Oddfellows' Hall had been neatly deoorated with various devices emblematic of the order, conspicuous being the neat and effective banner which was displayed near the stage ; the floor too, was in; firstclass condition, and the excellent music supplied by Messrs Gowcr (piano), Armstrong (riolin), and Richardson (comet) was the subject of deserved commendation, the time kept throughout being Al and the selections in good taste. Invitations wero extended to sister societies, many representatives being present. A wellarranged programme of twenty-four dancos (not including extras)- was submitted, and Messrs X. M.. Copelaud and Jas. Carroll carried out satisfactorily the onerous duties of masters of ceremonies. It was estimated that seventy couples engaged in the mystic evolutions of the mazy dance, and the grand maroh, with which the hp*V was opened, was most effectively manage, being watched with interest by over 100 spectators in the dress cirole. Supper was laid on the stage, and the dexterous manner in which the appetising delicacies disappeared from the tables was eloquent testimony in favour of the Committee's catering, while the attentions of Mr Moon to a neverceasing demand for refreshments from zealous devotees at the shrine of Terpsichore met with its due reward. .
