« Hon. G- McLean Interviews the Victorian Postmaster-General. (By Eleetrio Telegraph— Copyright.) (Per United' Press Association.) Mbebodbke, May 7. The Hon. G. McLean (Chairman of the Union Steamship Company) had an interview with Mr J. G. Duffy, PostmasterGeneral of, Viotoria, yesterday with refer- . ence to the San Francisco mail service. The latter promised to give his moral support to protest against the existing scheme of payment 'of an American subsidy by which Kew Zealand boats were placed in a worse position than the American vessels who were engaged in the service. Owing to the state of the finances, Mr Duffy said he could not recommend the Government to grant a subsidy to the line or service.
