The London Markets.
(By Electric Tolegraph— Copyright.) (Per United Press Association.) Londok, Jan. 28. The quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,996,000 quarters; for the Continent 752,000 quarters. Wool arrivals to date are 370,000 bales, of which 52,000 have been sent to the manufacturing districts. Tallovr, best mutton, 27s to 27a 6d ; beef, 25s 6d to 265. Hides are in fair demand; best ox, 3Jd to 3Jd per lb. Union S.S. Company's shares, £11 12s Gd ; New Zealand Shipping Companj', £4 10a; •haw. Savill, and Albion Company, £10 2b 6d.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following London market cable, dated January 29th, 1891 : — Wool— The sales opened this day at the level of last tales, except fine greasy crossbred, for which market is firmer. Attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good, and buyers are operating with spirit. The total quantity available, including wool held over from last series, is 382,000 bales, 52,000 bales of which have been forwarded to tbe manufacturing districts direct Wheat— Market weaker owing to mild weather. N.Z. wheat, f.a q., to arrive, iron ship, is worth, c i.f , 37s 3d per 4801bs, January and February bill of lading. N.Z. average, 35s 9d per 4961 b«; N.Z. long-berried, 37s 6d per 4961b5.
