Career of the Champion.

Mr Charles Kruso was born in Oerman3' in the j ear 1853, and commenced his shooting career when eighteen yetus of ago, being connected with rillc clubs ever since. In tliß years 1872-3 he attended {.he great annual prize firing competitions in Switzerland, the last year with some success. After that he wont to Africa, and while in British Cafraria did some excellent shootidj;. winning about £37 in puze money and the district championship. He came to Now Zealand in 1874, landing at Wellington, and the first meeting there was his first success with tho Marlioi-Henn rifle. Somo time after tlm Mr Kruse came to Wangamii.and from 1835 up to the present time ho has beon most assiduous in practice,

never missing an opportunity of putting in an appoarance at the range, and always shooting consistently and with accuracy in the different local company competitions. Ono of Ins best performances of late, provious to attending Napior, was making a eeore one morning at long range equal to the possible on the Wimblodon target. Ho is tho eighteenth winner of the Champion Belt, and is entitled to hold it for ono year. In demeanour it would be hardly possible to imagine a more unassuming maa than the champion, and this, togother with tho fact that ho 13 always willing ta impart knowledge to young and aspiring marksmen, ha 3 indoared him to hosts of friends.
