Board, of Governors.
The Board of Governors of the Girls' College met at the close of the Education Board meeting. Present-Messrs Carson (eh.,,) Beckett Notman, Fry, Huriey, Bridge, Baker, and Rev. Ross. It was decided that scholaßtio wort at the College should commence on Feb. 3rd, and that the usual terms be observed, Be olved that the Chancellor of the University, Mr Habeas .and the Minister of Education be asked to tin opening ceremony further mvi. tations left to Executive.
Ie was decided to invite applications for 6ho port of assistant teacher at the College at a salary of £120 and board. The Secretary wai instructed to advertise in Auckland and Christchurch papars. Resolved that drawing be included in the course, and that Mr D. Blair be engaged at a salary of £100 por annum. Tho Secretary was instructed to call for tenders for keeping the College grounds in good ordor and it was resolved to purchase throe pianos for tho use of tho College. The fee for music v.as fixed at £2 16s per term. It was also resolved that the Board refrain from expressing any opinion ai to any particular method in which Latin should ba taught at the Collego. _____ Captain Edwin telegraphs as follows .— Same indications as already wired.
