Quicksilver, Norfolk trottnr, imported |byMr J, Trestrail, from Glasgow, Quicki silver is a beautiful roan, standing 16 hands 2 inohes h gh, on particularly good legs and feet, has short back, good middle is remarkably quiet tempered, and is very fast. Quicksilver was , sired by the renowned Norfolk trotter Garibaldi; grandsire Old Garibaldi ; g. grandsire Old Quicksilver, by Eclipse, by Phenomenon. Quicksilver's dam, Louisa, was one of the fastest trotting mares in the West of England. She was by old Sportsman, who was by Old Trotting Wonder, whioh name he achieved by boing trotted against a celebrated Irish mare on the Torpoint Road, for a bet of £20, which he won, beating tho mare by half a mile, the distance being ten miles, which he trotted in 32 minutes 15 seconds. Quicksilver's sire, Garabaldi,was considered the fastest and grandest goer in England ; he was by Old Garibaldi (which horse was sold to King Victor Emanuel for 800 guineas) out of a mare by Wentworth,whose sire was Performer ; grandcire Prickvrillow (the champion of England), which gained three first All-England prizes, g. grandsire Phenomenon, by Wright and Goold's Norfolk Cob, which was sold for 1000 guinoas. Old Quicksilver was got by Eclipse out of Dodd's Astonisher (whioh trotted six miles in 17i minutes, beating Harkaway), by Joel's Astonisher.by Sportsman, &o. Eclipse by Phenomenon (wbiab gained first prize at Wells. in 1862, for best hunter and roadster stallion) ; grandsire Old Phenomenon.by Novfoik.Plienomeuon ; dam by old Fireuway, &c. Eolipae's dam by Varmont, by Trotting Wonder out of Pussy (which was sold to the Dean o£ York for 600 guineas), winner of the Oaks and many other races,and was a clever huntress for twelvo successive seasons. Quicksilver gained first prize ot Hehtone, and first at Pansanooth when two years old, competing against aged horses. He also took the following prizes in Victoria : — Second priza at Grand National Show, Cluneß and Talbot ; first prize at Smeaton ; first prize at Mount Alexander Show ; first prize at Kyneton.also speoial and champion prizo at Kyneton, in 1885; first prize at West Bourke (gold medal) ; first prize at Daylesford ; first prize at National Show, Melbourne, 188G, also special prize to produce hackney and carnage horses. Firat prize at Mount Alexander ; first prize at Clunes and Talbot ; first prize at Smeaton (also champion prize) ; first prize at Kyneton, in 1886. First prize at West Bourke ; first prize at Daylesford ; shown at Grand Spring Show, Melbourne, 1887 (wrongly classed, but he was awardod a certificate of merit for being the best horae in the yard of his kind). In 1887 ho gained first prize and ohampion prize at Smeaton ; first prize, and speoial prize for horse calculated to get beat carriage horses, at Costlemaino ; first prize at Ballarat ; first prize at Kyneton ; first prize at Daylesford ; first prize at Mnrchison ; and first prize at Seymour and Nagambie, in 1888. First prize at Daylesford ; first prize at Inglewood ; first prizo at Sandhurst; first prize, champion prize, and special prize at Kynnton, in 1889. First at Daylesford, 1890.
